Master the basics of database searching: Learn how to search PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science.

🎓 Just Completed: "Master the Basics of Database Searching: Learn How to Search PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science"
I'm excited to share that I've successfully finished this essential course on scientific database searching, a must-have skill for every researcher, student, and academic! In a world overflowing with information, knowing how to find the right scientific literature efficiently can make all the difference. This course transformed the way I approach research from random keyword typing to building smart, structured search strategies.
🔍 What I Learned:
✅ How to choose the right database (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science) based on your research needs
✅ How to extract precise keywords from a research question
✅ Mastering Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) to refine and control search results
✅ Using MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) for more accurate medical and health-related searches
✅ Applying advanced filters (by date, study type, language, etc.) to narrow down results like a pro
✅ Building a full search strategy that’s repeatable, transparent, and publication-ready
💡 This isn’t just about typing into a search bar, it’s about thinking like a researcher and designing a search process that’s both comprehensive and efficient.
📚 Whether you're an undergrad student starting your first research project, a PhD candidate writing a thesis, or a seasoned researcher conducting a systematic review, these skills are fundamental.
🙏 Huge thanks to the instructor Muhamed Elnaggar for making complex concepts clear and practical!
🚀 What’s next?
I’m ready to apply these strategies to real research projects, literature reviews, and potentially mentor others in developing strong academic search skills.
